Welcome to Department of Estate Management and Valuation

The Federal University of Technology, Minna was established on February 1st 1983 along with other Universities in Akure, Makurdi, Owerri and Yola. These specialized universities were established in order to concretize the desirable quest for technology development in Nigeria. However, Estate Management Department was established in January 1990 with only five (5) students and has continued to grow from strength to strength and has been very consistent in producing notable estate surveyors and valuers in Nigeria and beyond. The department graduated its first set of students in 1993/1994. While, in 2010 the department was given full accreditation by National Universities Commission (NUC), the Estate Surveyors and Valuers Registration Board of Nigeria (ESVARBON) granted a three year professional accreditation in 2001 to the Department after its first and second accreditation visits in 1999 and 2001 respectively. This was equally extended by another three (3) years in May 2005. Similarly, in 2009 the department got four years accreditation from ESVARBON. Consequently, the Department has become the springboard for the Bachelor of Technology (BTech.) Degree and post graduate programmes currently being run by the department as well as Postgraduate Diploma (PGD), Master of Technology (MTech.) and Doctoral (PhD.) levels. The department currently has staff strength of 19 Lecturers, 4 Technologists and 3 Administrative Staff. The department encourages research activities among her staff while emphasis is placed on practical exposure of its students. The Department was once moved to the newly established School of Entrepreneurship and Management Technology (SEMT) for two years. However, on the recommendation of the first Nigerian Institution of Estate Surveyors and Valuers' (NIESV) educational summit of 2012 held at Maizube Farms, Minna and the approval granted by the University Senate, the department was fully relocated to the School of Environmental Technology (SET). This was also reinforced by the directives of ESVARBON. Further, there was also a change in nomenclature of the department from Estate Management to Estate Management and Valuation.
